New Features
This release includes the following new features:
- Improved APIs—Portal APIs have been updated and improved to provide more flexibility in creating the right solution for your PDF needs. See our examples site for new Portal 2013 examples:
- Enhanced Customization—Portal now provides developers the ability to suppress individual tools in addition to groups of tools.
- JavaScript UI Resource—We've introduced JavaScript resources to provide an additional level of control over Workspace customization, including adding support for other languages, showing/hiding labels, rewriting menus, adding custom buttons and adding icons.
- Enhanced UI—The Portal Workspace has been completely redesigned with a familiar "ribbon" interface, improving usability.
- Localized UI—The Portal Workspace has been localized to provide language support for French, Italian, German, and Spanish users.
- Quick Add—The Portal Workspace includes this new feature to make adding multiple objects of the same type, such as form fields, sticky notes and text, more efficient.
- Additional Page Controls—Portal now provides the ability merge, delete and crop PDF pages, in addition to a "restore pages" tool which restores all pages and locations.
- Improved Tablet and Mobile Support—The Portal Workspace has been improved to provide greater support on tablets and other touchscreen devices.
- Digital Signatures—The Portal Workspace now supports the viewing of digital signatures.
- Fill Window—This feature lets users expand the current PDF file across the Portal Workspace area.

The License Manager
The activePDF License Manager has been updated to simplify the process of managing and maintaining product licenses. NOTE: If you have an existing Portal license from Portal 2011 and prior, you will need a new license key for Portal 2013.

Database Migration
Users of Portal 2009 and 2010 must perform some specific procedures to migrate their databases to Portal 2013. For full instructions see the . NOTE: No migration is needed to move from Portal 2011 to Portal 2013.
